Mike Oliver started practicing law in 1989, working for 6 years at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, a large Baltimore law firm where he concentrated his practice in commercial litigation, focusing on Lanham Act, advertising, intellectual property and related cases, primarily tried in Federal Court. He later joined Bowie & Jensen, LLC in 1995 and worked there for 17 years, converting to a primarily transactional practice, leading that firm’s intellectual property group, and helping build that firm’s practice from 3 lawyers when he arrived to 18 lawyers at the time of his departure. Mike has most recently been recognized as one of the top 100 lawyers in Maryland by Baltimore Magazine (2013), is AV Pre-eminent rated by Martindale and has a 10 rating from Avvo. Kim Grimsley started her professional life at Bowie & Jensen as a paralegal. After law school, Kim clerked for the Honorable Alan M. Wilner of the Maryland Court of Appeals. She then practiced law for 6 years at Gordon Feinblatt, a large law firm in Baltimore. Kim concentrated her practice in commercial litigation initially, then became the principal associate in the Trademark department. She left Gordon Feinblatt in 2008 and worked for six years with Mike at Bowie & Jensen, building her Trademark practice, which is her primary area of concentration. Pamela Riewerts, a U.S. registered patent attorney, focuses on assisting clients in obtaining and protecting intellectual property rights in the U.S. and abroad. Pamela is a partner in the patent department of Oliver & Grimsley, LLC, and previously practiced with Mike and Kim at Bowie & Jensen, LLC. Before that Pamela practiced as a patent litigation attorney with Morgan & Finnegan, L.L.P., a New York City law firm specializing in intellectual property and with McDermott Will & Emery, a Washington, D.C law firm. Ms. Riewerts is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. Ms. Riewerts holds an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, incorporating all engineering genres, and a minor degree in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Larry Guffey is Senior Patent counsel with Oliver & Grimsley. Larry began his career with Owens-Corning, where he invented and patented lower-cost, thermal building insulation manufacturing processes. He quickly became a R&D manager with responsibilities for strategic planning, including monitoring the patent portfolios of business competitors. As the Technical Director of the Glass Fiber Division, Evanite Fiber Corporation, he helped build a glass microfiber manufacturing venture into a viable business that is today a key raw material supplier to the nonwoven media industry. A senior management career followed. This included service as the Vice President of Research & Development for the Evanite Fiber Corporation and as the Chief Operating Officer of GFT, Inc., a start-up business in textile, glass fiber manufacturing. Tina L. Neuman is the Office Manager and Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal at Oliver & Grimsley. Tina’s practice areas include trademarks, copyrights, patents, and general corporate transactional matters.
Tina has ten+ years of experience in the specific areas of trademarks, patents and copyrights. She assists lawyers with all phases of U.S. and international trademark prosecution, from clearance searches through post-registration maintenance, and including assisting lawyers with opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Tina also assists attorneys with all phases of U.S. and international patent prosecution, and with the preparation and filing of copyright applications with the U.S. Copyright Office. Tina’s depth of experience is beneficial to clients of Oliver & Grimsley in keeping down costs associated with the research, filing, and drafting of documents that are essential to our clients’ intellectual property protection. Karri L. Moorehead is an Intellectual Property Paralegal at Oliver & Grimsley. Karri’s practice areas include trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Karri works with Tina Neuman (Office Manager and Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal) and assists with all phases of U.S. and international trademark prosecution, from clearance searches through post- registration maintenance.
Prior to joining Oliver & Grimsley, Karri attended Stevenson University and received a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies (ABA Accredited). While attending Stevenson University, Karri was a member of the Stevenson University Legal Society. She also participated in the Family Law and Bankruptcy Law Clinics that the program offered and completed an internship at the Community Legal Aid Society, Inc.
